Sing A-Round Australia

Earlier this year, I was invited to contribute to a new collection of canons and partner songs, to be published by Kodály Queensland. After some time trying to get over my ‘imposter syndrome’ (I’ve never composed before!) I was able to create a short piece for the first Volume! It was a really enjoyable process to write, and I hope to keep exploring composition.

The launch event was a really fun session – singing through the canons and songs from each composer allowed us all to see how teacher’s and conductors could implement them in classes.

With a distinctly Australian flair, these pieces are an important resource for ensuring vocal educational materials represent and celebrate the flora and fauna of this country. My partner song, My Heart Is Full, has been taught by a number of teachers already; one said “…each part was a great stand-alone, memorable melody but not too long. Thank you for writing something so effective!”

If you are a KMEIA member, this first Volume can be accessed for free! For non-KMEIA members, you can have all songs for a very affordable $30. Use this link to purchase: https://www.kodalyqld.org.au/product/sing-a-round-australia/.
